Got into an argument with an idiot. Went on about how technology is slowing down and all that crap. No it's not. Here, I will give some examples of recent tech to prove it.
-
Unreal engine 5 photorealisitc graphics game engine
-
Military drones becoming common use
-
New generation of tanks is out with added stealth and drone attachments
-
We are on the cusp of finishing development of the first fully reusable space craft that should get costs per pound down to less than a 100$ for launch into space
-
Supercomputers keep getting better every year
-
While chips and smartphone upgrades might feel a bit shaky, that growth has instead shifted to automation of industries and AI development.

-

Car automation although progressing at a slow rate is still progressing. We are pretty much halfway to full self driving cars.
-
You are seeing enough progress in technology that what would be considered luxury tech at one point in time becomes accessible to the middle class within 5-7 years at most. On the human advancements scale that's an insane rate. Your kids tech access and experience will be completely disconnected from your own.
-
One decade has enough tech upgrades that it shifts how you live your life or your expectations from your products completely.
-
Upgrades in language models and social AI.
-
Loads of European infrastructure has cross country interconnections now.
-
China is developing an insane amount of infrastructure in the developing world.
-
We already have limited application of robots in the military. Such as the bomb squad mule.
-
Advancements in 3D printed organs
-
Robots with human like skin
-

-
Military grade night vision tech is as good as looking at things during the day.

I love how the meta verse is just an extremely handicapped VR chat. I used to like VR, hope the whole industry collapses now.

I got really into it for a bit when all the bars closed during covid, but there's a significant amount of weirdos jacked into the matrix so they can live out some fantasy life.
I would describe a good chunk of people there as the absolute dregs of society. Depraved men pushing the boundaries of acceptability because theres no accountability. Women who you might as well find with pills in one hand and a coat hanger in the other. Absolute neurodivergents who hang around in an attempt to desperately force human contact.
If you find a few regular guys and just play drinking games and shoot the shit it's great, it can definitely replace in-person interaction to some degree. But getting to that point where you're meeting decent people involves going through some absolutely depressing realizations about other human beings.

VR chatrooms vids on youtube were the best thing ever. The problem with the metaverse is that they tried to make it into real life when it had its own strengths as a virtual shitpost kingdom
