Linux and android grudgingly and windows even more grudgingly

imagine being a completely free person, able to choose any operating system in the world, and windows is the one you decide on

It's the best one, not even close to being a contest. No other OS can do everything as well as Windows.

Linux for servers and for embedded systems/anywhere else where you're super limited in hardware. Or if you love FOSS so much you're willing to deal with more technical issues to stay as pure as possible. Otherwise if you need some Unix CLI thing you can just use WSL, no need to deal with the whole OS.

MacOS for audiovisual professionals, simply cuz of software, everything about the OS itself is objectively worse than Windows. You need to use 47 different 3rd party apps to bring the OS up to parity with Windows. See: window management and clipboard history for easy examples.

Windows wins

Never upgrading to Windows 11 tho. Fricking jewish chads won't get me to DRM lock my computer :marseyschizo:

I've used Windows since 3.11 and stopped a couple of years ago. I hated the lack of workflow and inability to customize shit to exactly how I want it. Restart windows and all my shit has to be rearranged.

And just constantly fighting the settings with PowerShell scripts, or trying to stop it from reinstalling bullshit or """upgrading""" over night. I got sick of it. In their "white papers" with Eurocuck governments, which require full disclosure of what personal data is collected by Microsoft, Big Daddy Windows kept it vague and basically told them to shut up. I just assume they collect everything about you, which is bullshit because it's not even free. It's a shit trade. :marseyshrug: W10 LTSC isn't bad, but after using Fedora (KDE) it feels so limited and slow.

True, the forced update shit is mega cringe. I dont care as long as they dont push downgrades (Windows 11 is imo, but thankfully not forced... yet)

How can you guys take stuff like this so nonchalantly? My computer exists to serve me, it should never act against my wishes.

Because I like new features when they're good and MS's quality control is good enough for bugs/downgrades to be very very rare. If that wasn't the case I would care more.

Like my oneplus phone for example just had a shitty buggy OS upgrade, so I'm now never going to give them the benefit of the doubt again.

If you mean the nagging to upgrade in itself yeah it's dumb, it's one of the few ways Windows takes a "we know best," Appley approach. I'm sure there's some way to disable it I just haven't cared enough

The only thing miss on Windows was AutoHotkey, it's godlike.

I guess. It's kinda of hacky but can be useful if you can't code your way out of a windows-related problem.

I don’t understand why you need to write scripts to fight the settings. what’s wrong with the workflow?
