Pretty slick tool. GTK4, made for PipeWire, even has a well built Flatpak.

Best way to use it for EQ is to choose your headphones here and then add the WAV file to the convolver. As layed out here.

>GTK4

What could have been an great project is now ruined. Why do so many freetards support the godawful GTK3/4 and GNOME in 2022? This was the last straw of linux cancer that made me unironically switch back to win32.

lmao canonical (a company with abhorrent leadership and policies) was putting amazon ads in your ubuntu all the way back in 2012.

ubuntu (and red hat :marseyglow:) are basically the only distros that are somewhat supported and actually used by people. it's sad to say but nobody is going to give a shit about your open and free frankendebian. You will be happy with your bloated snapd cancer distro constantly pooping up your mount points and creating 1000 nonconsensual update and telemetry spying connections in the background.

GNOME has been cancer since 2011, but there's nothing inherently wrong with GTK.

GNOME and GTK go hand-in-hand and are more or less controlled and funded by the same awful community and philosophy. You will understand if you have ever had to actually compile and deal with this extremely bloated, miserable, cancerous, and god-forsaken mess of libraries. The type of frustration that makes you seriously consider rewriting the gui over trying to get it to compile on anything that's not a cookie-cutter corporate-backed distro like ubuntu/fedora. And it's versions 3 and especially 4 (NO backwards compatibility) where the real problems exist. Version 5 will be a complete joke if it ever comes out as they plan to make it wayland only. But mind you GTK2 is an ancient project from the 90s. Though I'd say at least 85% of win32 api from the 90s is still used as the backbone for everything in windows today. It's also hilarious how Windows can officially support keyloggers yet no npcs are pearl clutching about its insecurity and demanding MS reinvent the wheel. GTK/GNOME devs have also crippled shit like remote access in linux which is so pathetic compared to Terminal Services. If I remember correctly, the r-slurred GNOME devs told people who wanted to implement screen sharing in wayland that they have to use their shitty screenshots api to take screenshots 10 times per second as a video. Yes they are really this bad. tl;dr if you want to stay sane, stay far far away from GNOME/GTK.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure there's other neurodivergents who could compile an entire book on this shit lol.

Further question, if you know -- will this impact audo playback latency? need to know if I need to mess with my settings again to play a rhythm game.

Yes this is doing post processing AFAIK. pipewire is lower latency than pulse which will help, but might be better to just click bypass when playing.

ok, i think i got it set up. quick question, does the "Autogain" button in the convolver menu do anything besides slightly adjusting volume? I ask because it was on by default and i'm a bit r-slurred wrt audio and I don't want to mess it up.

I honestly have no clue. I'm buddies with a south american dude who buys chi-fi shit who showed me this, I'm out of my element too.

Actually - disabling that seemed to help my clipping issues.

I'm looking at the little bars while playing some music now, and as suggested by the github guide it looks like it was clipping a little bit on the "input" side of the filter so I turned it down -0.7dB. Turning the autogain button on seems to increase the gain on the "output" side but it doesn't clip either way so I think it's fine.
