It depends on quality and how much you care about a D.O.P. label. The good stuff starts out 2X the price of basic Prego (comparing price per unit weight). Rao's, which is a good quality sauce, is about 3X the cost of Prego, and I think the result is better from the canned tomatoes. I also consider Prego pretty awful. I suspect almost any can of tomatoes will yield a better result than Prego, though, so maybe this can be cheaper overall and better.

I use rao's for fettuccine,love that shit. The jar I used was classico sausage and garlic. I'll try this next time tho
