Every time on the mic he'd say the same six or 15 or whatever catch phrases and fill the rest of the time with the same middle school tier insults. Every one of his big matches either had someone kicking out of a finisher, or him doing the other guy's finisher, or the other guy doing the rock bottom. Every good match was because of his opponent making him look good. The Rock owes Mick Foley his whole career. The people's elbow is gay as shit and when he made it his finishing move really cemented The Rock being the lamest main eventer for me. People are starting to notice Dwayne Johnson is a fake but I knew he was a hack 25 years ago. He's always been boring and predictable. He's never done anything great.

He had the crowd in the palm of his hand, could make them either shut up or erupt in noise by just doing a hand motion during a promo, or even by just pausing for a few moments while talking.
His matches were not technical but that doesn't matter, he knew how to make them entertaining by playing up the ridiculousness of pro wrestling and doing every move in an exaggerated way.

I remember the first time I saw blood in pornography and I was like “oh this is cool… can we get some more? Can we get all of it? Can everyone be covered in blood… ok I need to stop watching that porn and maybe even stop watching at all for a bit” luckily I only indulged for a bit, and as my family was extremely conservative the stimulus was rarely available. I was also maybe 14, so it was much easier to find other things that attracted me and not have that be an instant trigger. I have no idea how my brain decided to stop and be like “no this a REALLY bad idea” but I am often haunted by what I could have become. And I will NEVER watch adult sexual content with blood in it again, I imagine it might be like a stiff drink after 10 years sober and it still freaks me out.
