If you want to feel bad for moderators, unironically, feel bad for the ones trying to mod right-leaning subreddits. You can't go to mod support and ask a question without Bardfinn, Merari or Maybesaydie trying to jump on your butt for being a baddie. You aren't included in any chats with the admins and don't have any questions answered by them. You wake up one day and see that anti evil has decided to remove five comments about some topic that used to be acceptable to discuss a year ago, but now you have to add another word to automoderator so that you don't fall afoul of the opaque, never-articulated reddit "rules" and have your subscribers banned from reddit for telling the truth about the spread of monkeypox...oh, and one of your fellow mods...one of the ones that is very active and helpful, has been banned from reddit for posting a MEDICAL STUDY showing how monkeypox is primarily spread.

You are getting death threats on the regular. You see someone posting credible and specific death-threats against Donald Trump, threats so disturbing that NOT reporting them would make you feel complicit if a crime was committed, so you report these to authorities and end up with the secret service coming to YOUR house because the message you sent the FBI was miscommunicated to them and they think that YOU posted the threat instead of being the one showing them the threat that was posted.

Whenever something happens like the election or Jan 6, your subreddit is flooded with so much hate from the left that even though you have enough mods to deal with regular traffic, you have to take the sub private because leftists are inundating you and posting comments that break the reddit rules which would get your subreddit shut down due to THEIR behavior. To add insult to injury, instead of noticing that you are being overrun ... reddit sends you a message saying that you need more mods to deal with the traffic.
