I've been doing some more reading up and it's not very likely for the compensatory damages to be reduced. He would have to show some kind of cause and so it would really depend on the apeals judge.

Laws and the justice system are always slanted against the anti-establishment side, which is increasingly becoming Rethuglikkkans. The Dems will continue consolidating power within institutions/the media and the government while crushing opposition (wonder what the term for that is :marseyquestion:)
