I can only really tell you what's worked for me (a big conservative-looking white guy with a stern attitude in general). Confronting it head-on helped me a lot.

This may be seething but the girls at my school were mean and never disciplined.

The only time I ever got sent to the principal's office was when older girls stole my ball and I knocked one over trying to get it back.
