Healthcare is terrible unless you can afford pricey private care but even than it's best to avoid having any dealings with these medical institutions.
Most Doctors and Nurses don't give a shit and are too busy trying to conduct experiments on people.
I wouldn't be surprised if the surgeon gave him an extra dose of penicillin after his allergic reactions kicked in to really get a good jossle on how much more over it can get.
