It is unironically pretty close to gambling for a living, probably why I'm so good at it. Check the leaderboards.

I've played more poker than you could possibly imagine, with a lot of very good players. Most fishermen are pretty heavily gamblers. One time I played my captain for crew shares. Won an extra 1%, which was a couple g's. I know a guy who put an entire crab season on black, about $70k, and won.

Can I have your Marsey Coins/Bux when you (inevitably) kick the bucket for you $28k median wage?

Eh most fisherman die because they are big stupid. Once you've done it for a while it's pretty safe, and honestly the danger is what keeps it interesting.

I don't know where TF you are getting $28k from, I average around $20k per month of seatime, and that's because I stick to the easy stuff these days. Crabbing was way more. Once I get off my butt and buy a boat and permit it will be a lot more too, but Ive payed off my land and house so I've been being a bit lazy.

Also if being the most dangerous profession is something that makes you NOT want to be involved, you are a kitty.

Than the article is wrong or something lol

I do know a lot of guys who only work like 2 months of the year and make that kind of money, but anyone actually spending significant time at sea is making 6 figures.
