the decisions that Reddit administration made to restrict, quarantine, and finally shutter that group off the site, at the times they did so, were probably the difference between Reddit continuing on as a business - and Reddit going into bankruptcy responding to law enforcement and lawsuit evidence discovery processes and liability lawsuits and criminal investigations and consumer abandonment.

LOL. Someone's not up to date. Even though they did shut down T_D they still got a warrant from the feds for all of the activity on T_D that was shut down a half year before Jan 6. If reddit's responsible for riot damage that happens ... they would have shut down antifa and BLM subs.

One of the realpolitik issues Reddit would have faced by shutting down T_D is the fact that DJT was actually opening a law enforcement investigation into the suppression of "conservative" political speech, premised on the talking point of "conservatives being deplatformed for being conservatives".

Reddit did not want to be the whipping post for this Red Scare witchhunt.

This makes zero sense. Reddit would have faced criticism for shutting down conservative speech, so they... shut down conservative speech? It's not even plausible, but Bardfinn thinks he's on to something.

How does a social media platform that relies on the consciences and willingness of good faith moderators to produce thriving, unproblematic communities - then turn around and identify, evaluate, test, remediate, and ultimately remove sociopathic and Machiavellian bad-faith subreddit operators who will say, on camera, with a smile "Yes we'd love to work with you!" while all the while passing out knives off camera.

On AHS there are frequently calls to jail reddit admins for tolerating speech AHS does not like.

There's supposed to be an archive of the sub's front page, too, but the assertion that r/conservative is a hate group is a foregone conclusion, and comprehensive overviews are only really necessary for establishing that a pattern of hatred exists.
