Of course it did lol. The reality is gig work has put a ton of pressure on traditional low end jobs. Why go work for some r-slur for poverty wages when you can uber/dash, make more, not have a boss, and set your own hours?

The reality is these people cannot accept their poverty wages aren't gonna cut it anymore.

We're witnessing a revolution in which plebes, sick of being exploited, are just telling the small business tyrant class to frick off.

Which is ironic given the hatred the gig economy got from the media despite being a far better work environment on average.

Idk, sounds like what a leftoid that is coping would say rather than what is happening.

That is what is happening. All of the businesses incapable of paying market wages are now whining and complaining about labor shortages.

They should go get jobs like the rest of us.

They should go get jobs like the rest of us.

They do though, it's in their name.

No they don't. They're running a business that cannot afford to pay market wages and thus should not exist.

But no, they lobby the government, lie about safety nets, and get themselves exempted from labor protections. All so they can live their little fantasy.

Should exist* :marseyangel:

Please retract your libel towards the petite propriΓ©taires and forsake your drivel about "market wages" that do not exist!

The end result is simply going to be automation. The middle class doesn’t make enough to pay non-poverty wages for these services.

Lmao they do make enough. The mythology around these people is hilarious.

Also if you can'y afford to pay market wages you shouldn't have a business and should go get a job like the rest of us.

If the minimum wage went up to 25/hour from 14 that’s a 178% increase in payroll… actually, quite a bit more because of payroll taxes and fees. You think a business would stomach the cost? No, it would go out to the consumer, and minimum wage workers are also consumers! Sure they’re making 11 more dollars, but they’re also paying almost twice the cost for services.

Also if you can'y afford to pay market wages you shouldn't have a business and should go get a job like the rest of us.

And you’ll have a future where small businesses don’t exist since they can’t optimize their workflow and minimize their overhead costs as efficiently as the big guys.

This isn't min wage going up, it's market forces driving wages up. Like how convenient we can't increase wages via the law, but also market forces driving wages up is also bad and we need daddy government to frick working class people over so bubba can keep paying poverty wages.

No thanks, suck my peepee small business cute twinks and go jump off of a bridge.

Why not just make everyone happy and let in low skilled foreigners who will work for pennies?

Who said we need the government to fight market forces to keep wages down?

My point was that β€œjust” raising wages to combat the rising costs is not going to solve the problem.

The small business lobby sperged out over social safety nets, repeatedly called for more immigration to off-set labor cost.

Frick these people dude. I hope they all die in a fire.

I don’t really think the solution is to throw the baby out with the bath water here and do away with small businesses. These are community members… local tax payers. You should optimize your economy around them, just like you should optimize your workforce around your local workers and not cheap immigrant labor.

If the government would focus energy on resolving the problems that cause high housing and healthcare costs I would argue that would have a way stronger affect than a blanket minimum wage raise.
