I still struggle to believe that low effort bait from our niche website reaches mass-media journos which then publish on it without a second thought.
A bit OOT, but I was afraid rdrama was gonna fail like all the other websites, with users slowly leaving and never being replaced by newfriends. Shit like this has to bring some fresh blood in one day, and as long as it's not a rightoid infestation this is promising for rdrama's future.
rdrama and cumtown.org are interesting case studies. The .org survived because it went private, and has a relatively small but funny cadre of terminally online posters keeping it alive for all the lurkers and upvoters. rdrama survived because they kept their own cadre of dedicated terminally online posters, got them drunk on the power of internet site administration, and designed the site like some kind of homosexual Minotaur's Labyrinth that makes it repulsive, confusing, and borderline inaccessible to anyone who doesn't really want to be here.
Personally I would have thought the rdrama model would have the most longevity, but the .org has (it feels like) slightly higher user engagement levels even after all this time. I'm rooting for both, as they've completely replaced reddit for me, and I haven't had this much fun on the internet in over a decade.
What’s the deal with cumtown.org? I know it’s a podcast but I never got to see what /r/cumtown was like. How can there be lurkers when the site isn’t visible to people without accounts?

/r/cumtown had some of the funniest moments. there was a period where nick still sort of enjoyed the show and posted on it.

Yeah I gotta agree with you on that one, and I think that's probably because we have a userbase that is much older than the average redditor, we knew what it was before and how reddit used to be.
nah the .org is trash and basically dead except for UTK spamming marfan edits. nobody on there is funny and it's just /pol/ seethe 24/7. except for the tom myers posts it's a clone of CP.win

Im glad they're actually getting it right too and not just calling it nazi shit. Saying that we just want to cause drama is better for attracting a balance of people.

I'm sure there's a Char-Broil joke to be made here...
People still think👌 is a hate symbol despite sitting them down and showing them 4chan.
tbf, Poe's law works in both directions of causality. Past the event horizon, it becomes impossible to distinguish trolling from earnest agendaposting. And a bunch of rightoids did earnestly adopt 👌
Basically, if you are a boomer, then it's a cool and edgy way to own the libs. If you're Millennial, it 's a hate symbol. If you're Gen Z, or one of the few gen Xers who has neither been sucked into boomerdom nor regressed into an elder millenial, then it's a joke made all the better by the fact that some rightoids stated actually using it...

The books were open for a short time after the sub fell, and most users made accounts then. They've opened up once or twice since, but never for long.
