OP is a regular on /r/benshapiro, /r/conspiracy, and /r/LouderWithCrowder among other subs, this probably tells you their level of knowledge in economy, and what kind of idea they'll try to push everywhere. (207)

You know you could actually learn a thing or 2 from an actual intellectual like Shapiro. I'm guessing from your comment, I could tell you everything you agree or disagree with. It's really too bad people these days just try to discredit people smarter than them simply because of politics and not their actual knowledge........ (-54)

Do you . . . do you know what inflation is? (1408)

We need only remember what Ludwig von Mises had to say about this. Mises said that โ€œInflation and credit expansion, the preferred methods of present day government openhandedness, do not add anything to the amount of resources available. They make some people more prosperous, but only to the extent that they make others poorer.โ€ (-39)

The transfer of resources. (-29)

This sub is 90% left wing propaganda if you care to look at the front page (-3)

For those of us who have read a bit of history. Do you mind explaining what you "think" the left vs right dichotomy represents? (since it's complicated as shit for even the well versed in its history...) As for the front page... After reading down the line for a good bit, I'm darn sure you don't know WTF you're talking about. But then again, some dumb shit posted this r-slurred AF meme, so here we are. Those so ignorant and stupid as to praise the worst, most corrupt economists of humanity deserve to be mocked and spat on. Neoliberals are the piss and shit of the Earth. (even calling Sowell an economist is insulting to the very idea of economics) Conservitards are too stupid to differentiate competent intellectual works from shill partisan pandering r-slurs. If they could do that, the nation would be a very different place. It would be nice to discuss more complex economic ideas, but instead we have to argue with the imbeciles who can't think their way out of a cardboard box. Inste... (28)

Do you . . . do you know what inflation is? (1408)

"Inflation, as this term was always used everywhere and especially in this country, means increasing the quantity of money and bank notes in circulation and the quantity of bank deposits subject to check. But people today use the term `inflation' to refer to the phenomenon that is an inevitable consequence of inflation, that is the tendency of all prices and wage rates to rise. The result of this deplorable confusion is that there is no term left to signify the cause of this rise in prices and wages. There is no longer any word available to signify the phenomenon that has been, up to now, called inflation. . . . As you cannot talk about something that has no name, you cannot fight it. Those who pretend to fight inflation are in fact only fighting what is the inevitable consequence of inflation, rising prices. Their ventures are doomed to failure because they do not attack the root of the evil. They try to keep prices low while firmly committed to a policy of increasing the quantity ... (1)

How would inflation lead to more money for the government? Iโ€™ve heard people say this before but I donโ€™t understand since more money would be going to private corporations? (346)

The argument I've heard goes "Government prints more money, so it has a larger share of the total supply, and increase in supply means everyone else's money is worth less.", but that assumes the government never puts that money into circulation, which is just... Nonsense. I don't know that there's much use in trying to make sense of it though; this seems to just be a veiled accusation of conspiracy aimed at the Biden administration. OP seems to also be intentionally misapplying the word "inflation" in reference to the drop in purchasing power we've seen recently, which has been most visible in the form of gas price hikes. There is a difference between "A drop in purchasing power" and "Inflation of the currency supply".A massive "inflation in the currency supply" can cause "a drop in purchasing power." But that is absolutely not the only possible cause! You probably already know the rest of this, but...The US, and several other countries, are refusing to buy Russian oil. So we have to ... (1)

The majority of economists see inflation as a good thing, while the majority of non-economists see it as a bad thing.

Depends on the inflation. And to most people it is a bad thing, but a certain amount of inflations means that good things are happening in the economy. Your comment is honestly a take that belongs in that thread.

You sound like youโ€™ve been brainwashed or are unable to think for yourself. How do rising prices for things and your lowering standard of living โ€œmean good things are happening in the economyโ€ if I wanted the hot rtard npr take id go back to Reddit

Because it means theres growth and there are more people with more money. It is not a complex argument to understand. Its fairly similair to the concept where biologist look for the presence of parasitism in ecosystem to see if its doing well. If the ecosystem is doing well, there is little but a certain amount of parasitism. If there is no parasitism, there is no extra to leech off of and the ecosystem is doing poorly. If parasitism is out of control, something very bad happened. Same with people raising prices.

What are you talking about? How are things constantly costing more money a symptom of health and efficiency of an economic system? If things were getting more efficient and productive prices would become cheaper you absolute neurodivergent avenger

Low and stable inflation is good. High, variable inflation is bad.

Inflation is literally a Satanic device used to impoverish the people of God. Inflation has always happened but it used to be much, much slower. Money should roughly retain its value for a hundred years.

Could you point to the part of the tweet where it criticizes high unpredictable inflation specifically?

Could you also point at the part of my comment where I specifically defend high inflation?

I think you just made up a person in your head to get mad at. Very silly behaviour if you ask me.

Thats really pushing the bounds of oversimplification. Besides, economists are not real scientists or even political "scientists" and their opinions on policy prescriptions are almost always irrelevant. One of the most useless disciplines, we need like 4 of them to run the fed and the rest should be unemployed

You are missing the point. A widly unpopular take for economists gets upvoted on the subreddit for economy. The point is that redditors are r-slurs.
