We?The chances are far more likely that a person you live with has a problem they do not want you to know about than for you to have gotten a "bad batch" or have a freezer that goes that cold.I do not mean to insult you or them, I just encourage you to try and think about if that lens could bring sense to otherwise difficult-to-understand actions by your spouse/partner/roommate/friend. Fun fact :This post might have saved my life during college. I moved into a flat in my second year of college after a bad experience in the dorm I was staying in. A family owned building and they were renting the first story. It was more expensive and I had to do some freelance work on the side to afford it but I was free now right ? My academic success suddenly took a deep dive, my results in freelance projects also went awful and I developed a severe depression with frequent time loss. This lasted around 8 months. I went to several doctors, including psychiatrists. Nothing solved the problem till I read this thread. Got a co meter and surely enough it was the co. Didn't know where it was coming from but I suspected the gas furnace and called the national gas hotline. Turned out the cheap landlord got his relative to install the new furnace. They fricked up and it was leaking exhaust into the basement and my flat. Landlord also got his relative to turn off the co alarm embedded... (1)

CO poisoning is my worst fear. Every new place I go I bring my co monitor. The worst I've seen was 20ppm and it was from when I tried to over night a fire in my wood burning stove. (1)

This is how I was able to catch my little brother sneaking alcohol. We had a bottle of Kirkland vodka and the “vodka” seemingly froze. So I waited for him to come home from school one day and chilled with him to play some video games. I pulled the Kirkland bottle out nonchalantly (the entire bottle was defrosted) and took a mighty big chug. His eyes went wide and he had the audacity to say “slow down” and “why are you drinking that?” I looked him dead in his eyes and laughed and told him “I should be saying the same to you” gave him a good ol lesson that liquor doesn't. Freeze. It wasn't water either that he filled it up with but coconut water. With visible signs of coconut pulp in the vodka bottle. He felt pretty dumb that day , got taxed whatever amount a Kirkland bottle costed because if our father found out, he would have gotten an butt beating so I took his money to replace the bottle. And he lost horribly to me in Mortal Kombat that same day. (3)

Mark Laita runs Soft White Underbelly, where he interviews and photographs people generally from the seedier side of life. Some interviewees are cops, excons, mentally ill people, etc. but he also tends to offer random people on Skid Row a few hundred for their stories. Sometimes/occasionally it's very interesting, often it's just a rambling junkie.

Mark found the Whittaker family in a <1000 pop town called Odd, West Virginia when he asked a cop about interesting local people. Their family tree is a clusterfrick with far too many overlapping lines, with the bulk of the children coming from two cousins of identical twin brothers.

They are severely inbred to the point they look like cartoonish caricatures of inbred hicks, some of them are nonverbal and have the minds of children. Mark's first video of them is here, I won't spoil it but it's worth watching until the end. Ray, who doesn't talk outside of grunts and barks, shows that he understands what people around him are talking about.

As described in the video, when he first tried to photograph them one of their cousins Jason who lived nearby threatened him with a shotgun and told him to stay the frick away from them. Eventually he was able to talk him down and later interviewed him - he's a career criminal and drug addict with sexual assault charges against a minor.

Based on the positive response from the first video, Mark had more follow-up videos with the Whittaker family and they began a very wholesome chungus relationship with him buying them groceries and taking them to the state fair.

The follow-up videos started to include a gofundme link where people could donate to the family as they apparently needed a new home.

With money and attention coming in, some other vulturous soytuber clickbait cute twink took it upon himself to visit Odd, WV and the Whittakers.

Timestamped is when he starts talking about Mark and the Whittakers. He says that over $77k was raised on just one GoFundMe and they should have funds to buy a $139k house in cash. When asked about the house Betty Whittaker squawks that she doesn't know anything about any house and that Mark said there are no more funds available. Their caretaker says she doesn't seem to understand either. This guy creates another gofundme for the Whittakers.

Mark responds and explains that the Whittakers kept asking for money from the GoFundMe. Since it's their money, he couldn't really refuse. He has receipts that he's sent a bit over $100,000 and they've pissed it all away with no house to show for it.

Although Mark was supposed to have washed his hands of the family after this, tragedy struck later in the month when BJ Whittaker reported that her father Larry had died. She called him emotionally sobbing and crying. requesting $800 for help with funeral expenses and a little over $250 for clothing for her and her family. She said the service would be on Facebook Live.

Betty confirmed the death on the phone, but Mark, seeming to smell something was off, flew across the country that day and showed up to the house to attend Larry's funeral. Larry drives up to the house in his truck about 13 minutes in.

Mark confronts BJ and Betty, who despite typically answering any question with something akin to "Ah dunno" was apparently lucid enough to play along with a lie about a family member dying. Apparently Betty also gives cash from the "family funds" to Larry's grandson Brandon (seen here in the back).

Mark had a followup with Jason the other day. Most recently, Larry asked for cash to try to get BJ help and out of state away from the family, being the worst influence. She, of course, didn't go anywhere, and the Whittakers who are capable of communicating in words were all able to stay consistent on another lie that got them money.

The shotgun toting felon chomo who originally threatened Mark agrees that they're actually untrustworthy and he probably should no longer try to help them.

I'm writing about a concerning situation involving another moderator. They have banned me and removed all my posts in numerous subs on a different account. The reason? I refused to relinquish my top moderator position on a subreddit on this account. They're essentially holding access to dozens of other subreddits they moderate hostage in exchange for my top mod role. This has been ongoing for several months now.

Here's the backstory: I became the top moderator of said subreddit when the previous top mod asked me if I wanted to take over due to my consistent activity and my interest in the sub. However, this other mod is now claiming I "stole" the subreddit from them.

I have Groomercord screenshots showing them promising to lift the ban and reapprove my posts if I hand over the subreddit they claim is theirs. However, they were never the top moderator there, nor did she ever do that much moderating in the sub to begin with and seems like it's just yet another power grab. This abuse of power feels outrageous. It seems like evidence outside of Reddit itself (like Groomercord messages) are not considered in these situations, leaving me stuck.

To make matters worse, they falsely listed me as "not being 18+" in the ban reason, despite knowing I am of legal age. Isn't this essentially them knowingly falsely accusing me of posting underage content, which is a serious offense?

I'm at a loss for how this behaviour is allowed to continue and I'm stuck. Any recommendations on how to proceed?

Normally, mods can ban you for whatever reason they like, but in this case, they seem to be banning you as retaliation for actions as a moderator which might violate the Mod Code of Conduct.

Don't piss off a mod who is above you in other subs. People in this thread saying otherwise don't quite understand. A mod with privs is allowed to not like you and remove you from his subs for any reason. Heck, the mod could de-mod you simply because he notices you participating as a regular user in another unrelated sub he doesn't like. Or because you like ketchup on hot dogs.

I was banned a couple weeks ago from /r/justiceserved (a sub I don't subscribe to) because I posted a comment reply in /r/conspiracy after I noticed a legitimate news story I'd posted about elsewhere had been cross-posted to the conspiracy sub. I don't subscribe to the conspiracy sub either. So I returned the mods the favor in one of my subs they don't use.

Wait, you banned an entire mod team from some of your subs as retaliatory action because you got an automated ban in their sub? I think we should consider revisiting the ModCOC soon.
