Think about it. Like the top 1-10% of people working in a field are the ones making advancements in it. Of these top dogs an even smaller percentage are making the leaps we all care about.
By their very nature they would require a personality template that is capable of processing a huge amount of data obsessively without burning out in their singular role.
On top of that far as I can tell at least based on media representation and the countries that talk about it, autism seems to be a white mans disease and high functioning autism has been observed to be the nuke of intelligence?
It would also explain the issue that high population density places likes India face with a far less neurodivergent population in place even though their population is in general huge.
