YouTube now allows breastfeeding videos to be monetized. Here's why it changed its mind.
Apparently, these are the rules for nursing on YouTube:
If a creator wants their breastfeeding videos to be monetized, it must meet the following requirements:
A child must be present
Creators' nipples can be uncovered or visible — as long as they are breastfeeding or demonstrating breast pump usage
The content must include contextual reference to breastfeeding, such as a child about to breastfeed or active lactation
Wait a minute...
A child must be present
Well, surely, this isn't going to be abused... right..?
I breastfed my toddler for about 3 months, 3 years ago. Back then I used YouTube as a tool to learn proper techniques etc. Today I was trying to send videos to my sister in law and while searching breastfeeding tutorials , I sadly found hundreds of soft porn videos of "breastfeeding " most used baby dolls but some where using real babies. I found this disturbing and disgusting. A disrespect to mothers and a trend that could lead to child abuse and pornography. I reported the videos and wrote to YouTube. I am bringing this to this groups attention in hopes that these videos get reported.
