It's shit for outdoors stuff, that's definitely true.
It's pretty walkable, imo easier to navigate than NYC. Plenty of good restaurants/bars, I think plenty of concerts and stuff too but I'm not really a concert kinda guy. The museums are pretty good, as are the botanic gardens (honestly the best botanic gardens I've visited). The Brookfield Zoo is good too, I'd say top 10 zoo in the US, not as good as San Diego's tho.
I can walk to get groceries, doctors, optometrist, etc. That's all nice. Not like the most important thing in the world but still nice.
People here drink a lot. Like a LOT. Way more than the coasts.

Chicago is a great city navigation wise, with the same grid layout as Manhattan, having one of the most developed infrastructures from the entirety of the US, with trains, buses, and whatnot, making it so that you don't have to take your car to go to the mall or some shop that's thirty minutes away. The only bad thing about chicago is, the demographics

Nah it's fine, arguably better than ocean beaches tbh (no salt obv).
It's the river that's disgusting, but the civilchads of yesteryear literally reversed the flow of the river so it flows out of the lake and not into the lake.
But yeah don't swim in the river. Actually hazardous imo. I see people kayaking on it and I think they're crazy, although maybe the north branch is less polluted than the south branch.
