Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski said that if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comes to Poland, he will be arrested in accordance with the country's commitment to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Bartoszewski's comments came in a Friday conversation with the Polish economic and legal newspaper Rzeczpospolita regarding the preparations for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, which is set to take place this January 27.
Bartoszewski's father was Foreign Minister in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Netanyahu was charged in November, along with former defense minister Yoav Gallant, for a series of crimes by the ICC. States that signed the Rome Statute are legally required to comply with ICC arrest warrants.
The anniversary is typically a major state event. However, Israeli officials declined to confirm whether Netanyahu would be permitted at the event, and President Isaac Herzog's participation also seems unlikely.
Education Minister Yoav Kisch will be the only Israeli government representative at the anniversary.
Polish sources told Rzeczpospolita that Warsaw was enforcing the warrants due to its wish to see Russian President Vladimir Putin stand before the court. The court issued a warrant for Putin in 2022 over the kidnapping of Ukrainian children from occupied Ukraine.
Complying with the ICC arrest warrants
All 27 European Union states belong to the Rome Statute and are legally required to comply with the arrest warrants. So far, only Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Netanyahu would not be arrested if he came to visit, going so far as to invite Netanyahu to his country.
Multiple EU states initially said they would arrest Netanyahu if he arrived in their nations. However, several have now reversed this either partially or completely.
France initially said it would fully comply with the arrest warrants, but following negotiations for a ceasefire in Lebanon, France then said that Netanyahu would be protected by diplomatic immunity.
Other EU states have confirmed they would arrest Netanyahu regardless of diplomatic immunity – including Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Lithuania, and Slovenia.

AVENTURA – Boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather made an unprecedented contribution of $1 million to United Hatzalah of Israel at the organization's annual gala on Thursday evening. The sold-out event raised $14 million to support United Hatzalah's critical lifesaving work across Israel, with Mayweather's donation standing out as a highlight of the night.
Mayweather was honored with the Champion of Israel award for his unwavering support of Israel and United Hatzalah, particularly during the ongoing conflict with Hamas. This past October, Mayweather donated 100 bulletproof helmets and vests to protect the organization's volunteers responding to wartime emergencies.
At the gala, Mayweather expressed his deep commitment to United Hatzalah's mission, stating, "You are all fighters. I am a former fighter, but we keep fighting every day. Eli, you and United Hatzalah are doing such a great job. I will be here until the casket drops, supporting you and standing behind you as long as there are people who need your help."
Mayweather also presented Dr. Miriam Adelson with a stunning diamond necklace shaped like United Hatzalah's logo, calling her "not just a good woman, but a great woman."
Entertainment for the evening included Jay Leno and a surprise performance by Mem, a masked Israeli singer and IDF veteran who had served on the frontlines.
The event also featured a major donation from philanthropists Sylvan Adams, Jason and Naomi Greenblatt, and Bashar Masri, who pledged $120,000 to donate an advanced lifesaving vehicle for use in East Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods.
United Hatzalah honored several key individuals, including Jeanie and Jay Schottenstein, recipients of the Humanitarian Award, and Tovale Chasin, who received the Fashion Ambassador Award for her work in Israeli fashion.
"We all saw the ambulances of United Hatzalah that went into the kibbutzim on October 7th—they were United Hatzalah," Dr. Miriam Adelson remarked. "The spirit of the volunteers is that they don't give up."
The gala also introduced the L'Dor V'Dor initiative, aimed at bringing the next generation of supporters into the United Hatzalah fold. The event's funds will support this initiative, as well as the organization's emergency medical services in Israel.
United Hatzalah provides free, rapid emergency medical services across Israel, with its network of 8,000 volunteers responding to calls in an average of 90 seconds. Proceeds from the gala will directly support these efforts, ensuring that medical care reaches those in need when it matters most.
The evening underscored the strong international support for United Hatzalah and its life-saving mission in Israel.
