I forgot to mention I watched the Cyberpunk Netflix show awhile ago. The plot was pretty standard but the visuals were absolutely top notch.

As a studio Trigger product it was absolutely sub par, everything else theyve ever done was miles ahead stylistically.
Was super stoked for a Trigger cyberpunk anime but it was honestly trash tier. Writing was cringe, pacing was garbage and i quit about 18 minutes in. Unbearable

Guren Lagann is absolutely S tier mecha anime and a masterclass in pacing.

That's fair, and that was the appeal of Trigger for me. Cyberpunk lacked the same frantic action and rich animation sequences, and the writing was soooo bad

I fricking hate that show so god darn much and it's insistence on being painfully average. The author has clearly read every really good romcom that came out last decade and made a concious effort to do everything interesting they did but without any of the commitment that made them great. I despise that show not just because it's anime but because it exposes how braindead both weens and normalstrags are. When it came out, people who shat on the video game at launch started defending it vehemently and people who never touch anything but D&D 5e became desperate for a Cyberpunk RED (not 2020 because it's actually a good game) GM. I could have made a quick buck running paid games but I'm not lowering myself to running RED.
