A beaten down salary man becomes trapped in organised crime in a fictional thailand shithole city. Forced into being the finance officer for the Black Lagoon company where he slowly loses his morality. A very fun and campy anime that takes a lot inspiration from 80s action movies and tropes.

also "The Promised Neverland", fits this pretty well but I would recommend the manga. there is an anime, season 1 is great but season 2 is awful and ruins the whole story.

This week I caught up to episode 11 of Renai Flops. I'll be blunt, it isn't that great a show. There's better things to be watching this season. But, if you're like me and watched a lot of generic ecchi harem when you were young, it offers an incredibly interesting take on the genre. I recommend it to anyone who watched To LOVE-Ru a decade ago.

It's quite good, but it's just a bit above the normal Kirara anime. It's definitely not going to have the sort of impact K-On did. The animation was definitely more inventive (outside of the performances where they dropped the ball imo), but not nearly as constantly polished as KyoAni.

I keep meaning to catch up on Hanako-kun but keep forgetting. New chainsaw this week wasn’t that great but it’s just set up so that’s okay. Haven’t waited for chapters like this since Jojo part 8 and I forgot how excruciating it is. No posts about it yet because the fandom hasn’t been too riled up since the introduction of Lanzhu a few years ago. I’m sure there will be a big stir when Tomori’s replacement is announced so keep a look out for that, there will definitely be some drama.

Psycho-Pass s1 was amusing, but then their follow-up movies just rehash the same shit. Couldn't finish them and :marseyno: to season 2. Please stop working for the evil totalitarian "AI" system if you despise it that much. I need to rewatch ergo proxy, I watched it very early in my weebery and I don’t remember it being very good. Having Radiohead as the outro ruled though (was that even properly licensed lol)

It's my first time watching it, and I've been really enjoying it. Its tone is dark and serious with no children (well, :marseyfacepalm: there's one silly AI child), so I'd assume that turns off 90% of the quirky weebs and pedos. It's a tragic story with the main characters having major flaws, and the powerful are insane, evil, or helplessly flailing for solutions. I can see why many anime fans would not like it. :marseyangel:

It was pretty dumb but entertaining for its sheer insanity. The cops start blasting people, and witnesses freak out, so their crime coefficient goes up, and the cops simply shoot them too. :marseyfacepalm:

It was dumb, the show had more plot holes than i care to list and the premise was fundamentally stupid, but the hue system was novel, and yeah the gun was rad as frick

Their political economy was interesting. They're practically living in a communist "utopia" so long as you don't get mistaken as a criminal or think about anything bad about government. Too bad the author never really bothered investigating this path or its consequences more closely. None of the characters really fleshed out how all their problems are due to the government. Oh well. :marseyexcited:

I thought the arc would have ended with the government storming in to crush the subculture (making her run away from it) since aggressive music and styles provoke people's imagination in aggressive "dangerous" directions, raising their coefficients etc.. but that's never expounded upon :marseyshrug:

I despise that show not just because it's anime but because it exposes how braindead both weens and normalstrags are. When it came out, people who shat on the video game at launch started defending it vehemently and people who never touch anything but D&D 5e became desperate for a Cyberpunk RED (not 2020 because it's actually a good game) GM. I could have made a quick buck running paid games but I'm not lowering myself to running RED.

As a studio Trigger product it was absolutely sub par, everything else theyve ever done was miles ahead stylistically.

Was super stoked for a Trigger cyberpunk anime but it was honestly trash tier. Writing was cringe, pacing was garbage and i quit about 18 minutes in. Unbearable
