Finished Bleach (I don't remember when was the last time I watched something current) and it was very, very good. Other than that I continue to put OVAs on and marvel about animation. Demon City Shinjuku might be dumb action junk, but when it wants it looks like gold. I started reading manga. So now I'm switching between some dumb manga comedy, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion by Yukio and War and Peace. Mix up your flavors.

I don't foresee watching anything new, will probably resume Gintama and MI when the mood strikes.

80s and 90s stuff is my weakness. I love stuff like Venus Wars, Honeamise and Megazone 23. I've been watching oldschool ovas less it makes me melancholic.

OAVs were a perfect gateway drug, no barriers for entry. Short, crazy/funnny, violent, pretty much mirroring action movies trend of the day while adding a new flavor. You could show it to pre-teen and destroy his chances of ever starting a family or finding love, or being a well adjusted member of society.

First time watching ovas from that era always felt like discovering something insane, like really anything goes no matter how crazy and the level of artistry was always mindboggling, thats the stuff you get when something is at its peak.

Japan really was never the same after the bubble burst. I am not going to shit on digital anime completely but darn, the 00s were pretty akward and bad cgi is plagging everything still.
