I read The Villainess Turns the Hourglass and it was pretty good. I think it needed to end when the bitchy step sister died since I just got bored after they introduced the time traveling, teleporting daughter. Also I didn’t appreciate the fact that Aria was secretly a royal all the time.

I also read the one where it’s a video game and there’s a commentary running over the game that the characters can hear. It was cute and I enjoyed the real world characters having that awkward teenage romance outside of the typical Isekai in your face type of romance. Apparently the anime is running this season so maybe I’ll watch it.

New CSM chapter was tight. I watched the anime and thought it was tonally perfect. I think people griping that it was “too serious” are just manga readers who are tonally poisoned from part two which is significantly more light hearted than part one. I remember my first read through of part one being very tense. I could tell something big and awful was coming I just couldn’t tell what. Obviously Makima was not human and probably didn’t have the best intentions for Dennis but it was hard to pin down exactly what her aim was. I think the anime portrays that perfectly. If I had one gripe it was that Power’s voice was way too high pitched but I got used to that pretty quickly.

I think I’m going to reread BSD and read some more otome villainess isekai because I need more gaslight gatekeep girlboss in my life.

Oh yeah I also watched the R3BIRTH live yesterday. It was really good, they did all of their solo songs except Light of Determination. They also did a mix up of singers to song which really surprised me lol. There’s one fluent English speaker in the franchise (she’s also in this group) and all of her songs are primarily English, I was really skeptical on how they’d swap her song.

When Akina stepped up to the mic I thought initially they had maybe translated it to Mandarin but nope it was just in horribly pronounced English. I can’t say she didn’t try and she speaks perfect Japanese and Mandarin so I guess I shouldn’t judge but holy shit it was pretty bad up until she got to the Japanese parts. In her defense Moepi totally flubbed the mandarin parts in Queendom.

It made me appreciate speaking English. I don’t speak fluent Japanese (can speak a little though) or any Mandarin but I can sing along to Love Live songs through mimicry. Crazy how Japanese just totally destroys your ability to properly pronounce a ton of languages if it’s the language you learn when you’re little.
