Yeah... I checked out CSM on the recommendation of everyone here and it's good. It's one of the best-written, best-animated anime I've ever seen. The themes and the degree to which they are developed are great.
It's also deeply unpleasant to watch. And not just the gore and the character deaths, the characters have problems. Really nuanced and well-written and uncomfortable problems juxtaposed against dystopian amounts of death and gore.
It's a heck of a lot harder to watch than Spy x Family, Witch from Mercury, Mob Psycho, or the new Trigun.
Still, if you're any kind of physical media collector, I can't imagine skipping over CSM. It's not even for me and I know it's got "classic" written all over it.

The anime was pretty bad given how much potential it had. I doubt most of the fanbase even bothered watching it.
Next one to keep a watch on is Ragna Crimson. There's no chance in Heck they do that one justice almost certain to be a CGI mess and the small existing fanbase is not going to handle an invasion well
