Continuing my accidently mid 2000s nostalgia trip started with Haruhi, I've been rewatching Code Geass. And once again I must say, it's still 11/10 and should be watched instead of whatever seasonal slop currently airs.

Code Geass is that one anime I loved as teenager bit would probably hate it if I watched it now

Only one way to find out

I feel like the soundtrack carries a lot. Yeah it's now a little harder to accept all the silliness and cheesiness, but when that music hits you can't help but be invested.

>Code Geass

:marseyhmm: Let me see what I wrote about it....

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch 2

> - childish :marseycrayoneater: characters try to take over the world

> - best friend :marseychinchilla2: kills best friend, by his order, for the sake of the world

> - absolutely childish :marseycrayoneater: geopolitics, beyond :marseynietzscheretard: reason

Ah, it's garbage!

I liked it but grew increasingly annoyed at it until I stopped liking it.

I'd never recommend it to anyone, unless they don't care about the mindlessness and complete absence of basic planning. I don't know why I expect anime to have good writing or at least sensible relationships / (geo)politics.

I said it before and Ill say it again, code geass got incredibly r-slurred when the main dude made the pink haired girl kill all these people 'accidentally'. They should have just ended the anime or whatever, but that was some major bullshit.

It was kino and previously established that as a geass grows in power, it can overwhelm the user and be impossible to turn off.

Nu uh. :marseyindignant:

It was very dramatic and sure, the fact that Lelouch just happened to talk in a way that would accidently trigger such a command is a bit contrived, but does it create a good story? Yes. :marseyagreesuperspeed:

No it only creates a bad copout to keep the story going when it could and should have ended right there. It was r-slurred.

You think Lelouch laying down his arms and everyone living happily ever after at that point would have been a satisfying conclusion? :marseyconfused:

No, but better than what they did.

Code Geass was my gateway to anime. It and Haruhi are still in my Top 5. I remember loving Toradora too.

Agreed mid to late 2000s had to a of good stuff!

Code Geass Season 2 is insanely stupid.

I'm not there yet to have it fresh in my memory, but I dunno, I don't think it's much sillier than S1. Also I love the Chinese Federation arc so it can do no wrong in my book.
