Generally, most slice of life appeal to maladapted shut-ins with deep well of 'tism, so make of that what you will...
That said I think slice of life is not all bad per se, sometimes it's fun to just vibe in a setting with a bunch of characters. Same principle as telenovelas or those 19th century 700 pages novels.
Pretty wrong. What we call SoL in the west, Nips call iyashikei, or healing shows. It's meant to soothe your soul after taking the last train home from work/cram school. In my experience, the less stressful my life is the less enjoyable they are.

Western otakus/weebs don't have the stress of Japanese life yet they enjoy slice of life/iyashikei shows; they are healing/soothing more from a "this is life when you have friends/hobbies" point of view I think. For exemple, YuruCamp was popular a while back, but how many otakus go camping innawoods
I literally bought my camping gear midway through the run of s1 and have gone at least once a year since lol. There was also that guy who started a forest fire in Mexico.
