Mappa done da crunch on JJK S2

https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/16wckg3/mappa_studio_asked_animators_to_sign_ndas_to_not

User /Nakayasee on twitter recently sent a tweet talking about a mysterious NDA asking directors and animators on JJK to not talk about the production state of the overall show.

In respose to the NDA, earlier this morning numerous animators talked about the bad schedule, the terrible working enviroment, the low pay, and the threat of being silenced by the studio.

/Wuokb : 失うものなんか何もないから愚痴程度で裁判起こすなら受けて立つぜ!!!! I have nothing to lose, so if you want to take me to court for complaining, I'll take it. !!!!

ごちゃごちゃ言うなら作監として入って直してくれや… /If you're going to make a mess, ask for a supervisor and fix it...

けどやっぱ頑張りたい人は関わらん方が良さそう / The place I'm at now is a basic mess and not very good, so if you want to do your best, don't get involved. If you want to do things properly and get paid properly, this might be a good place for you. While it's a mess, it's also a good place for newcomers to make a name for themselves, because there are opportunities lying around and they're doing some high-profile work. But if you want to have your work respected, it's better not to get involved.

/JMulli02; Silencing the staff from talking about how atrocious the work conditions are is comically evil i dont care at this point because yes, the schedule is beyond terrible the fact that work gets done at all with any level of competency is incredible. I will not compromise my health for work that wont even cover all of my rent, let alone any other expenses my main job and my overall wellbeing mean more to me then the fear of being blacklisted

/NobiliRoccia : Really terrible situation right now...I wish schedules could be more feasable human for the staff.

Eternally baffled by how badly Japan's animation industry has mismanaged monetization of their global audience. They pretty much rely on a percentage from streamer subscriptions while piratechads dab away.

Any kind of merch is incredibly difficult to get outside of conventions, going to Japan, or dealing with a handful of awful online retailers in the West.

I would've spent like 2k on jojo merch alone, based on the merch they released domestically, but I have literally none. And no, Im not buying some c*m stained Jojolion poster on ebay for 15x the price.

For some reason Japanese companies are completely r-slurred when it comes to the internet. They have very little interest in providing content globally and instead prefer to cut deals with individual distributors which results in on a tiny sliver of manga and anime being localized and broadcasted anywhere. The only real success case I can think of is Mangaplus.

J-pop in the 2000s had a chance to become just as big as modern K-pop. But the music producers there don't allow ANYTHING online, no music videos, not even photos. Apparently the bromide industry is a huge money maker in Japan, it's why you get r-slurred shit like pic related. They'll white out popular singers and actors in news stories for fear it'll cut into their bromide sales. I don't know the financials, but it seems like they're taking the dollar and forgetting about the thousand dollars left on the table by ignoring the global market.

A Japanese term, headshot picture of a celebrity. Yeah, fans apparently pay money for that, a lot of money.

Companies have all been shit with merch this last decade. See how Disney completely bungled "The Mandalorian" merch.

They thought Sporgs would be the hot new merch, but it completely failed and likely scaled back

They did eventually get some merch on the market

Meanwhile I still have 0 Meruem merch in my fricking house, that neighbor hasn't been on air in 9 years

Isn't this basically the standard of the japanese animation industry? After watching Shirobako I'm amazed any anime gets made at all.
