How much longer till you guys reckon AI leads to an explosion in manga publications?

How consistent are the models when it comes to characters?

I think this is really the biggest question. Background are often done by assistants, or pre-made, so today they are a concern mostly for more ambitious mangas. Charqcters are creating the biggest workload for the mangaka.

Also, for a battle manga it may be unfeasibly, since I just don't see AI doing good panel by panel action.

Whaddya mean? an explosion in AI-generated manga? I doubt it, Jxp artists have not been very happy with it, AI is just used for cheap coom material at least for now.

I think it won't happen right away but eventually there will be some work that blows everyone away that's AI assisted, not AI made. After that there will be a horde of derivative works, followed by actually good content.

I don't think I've seen many good examples.

Each panel needs the character posed in a certain way, contorting facial expressions as well, to deliver a lot of context.

I think the # of manga artists decreases because a single artist will be much more marginally productive, but since artists are only one input of a highly corporatized media, nothing really changes.

Independent artists might be able to make their panels quicker for an independent publication, but having more time doesn't necessarily mean they're more skilled at storytelling, web development, marketing or project management.

Ok more seriously , i think it needs to get a little bit better for the minimalism manga style and then you need to make it more consisten, but yeah in 1 or 2 years we will have a lot of manga and manwha ai slop.

Probably when people are willing to invest enough time. Alternatively if the process is speed up.

With control nets, inpainting and loras you can probably do quite a lot already, but figuring out how that works will take quite some time. Haven't looked into it in quite some time, but multiple characters in the same image was a problem back then.

Hard to say. People have tried fully AI generated comics and current technology is simply not up to the task, but that doesn't mean things will stay that way.
