Almost done with Hunter x Hunter. Has some really cool parts and unique characters, but it also drags along like almost all shounen eventually do. 7/10

I finished vivy fluorite eyes and what a fricking good show, I kind of feel like the ending was arbitrary since the time machine wasn't really explained well and why couldn't she have just gone back slightly further and stopped anyone from dying or it is pretty clear that the ai tower thing was able to time travel so why didn't it the second time, but otherwise it was awesome. The song was also beautiful, especially so due to its significance in the anime as the first creative act of ai ever.
watched divergence eve. humans discover faster than light travel through a warp gate, but an entity from another dimension follows them to the other side. they live in a constant battle of trying to stop the entity from materializing while not being willing to shut down the warp gate because its value. first season is good and has an abstract story. the second comes from a different director, and falls halfway through trying to answer the questions set up in the first and abandons the abstract style, still worth finishing though. the soundtrack is inspired by nine inch nails but was never released. same director(first season) and character designer as burn up W.
i don't remember how much of the manga the anime covers so this might be bad advice but the manga i read that gave me similar vibes are to your eternity (written by a silent voice author) and spirit circle (written by lucifer and the biscuit hammer author)
the latter never got an anime adaptation but the former did (haven't seen it though)
Its an ok show, animation and colors good but i wasnt super sold on it. Thought it was a bit boring at first watch and dropped after s few episodes. Maybe I'll give it another try

It's good for what it is but how on earth it has 2 seasons and 2 movies is beyond me. I'm tapping out after season 1, it's basically just yokai slice of life

I watched Gate this week because I saw a meme of modern military vs roman soldiers and thought it looked neat. I give it like a 5/10. It was okay, but I really wanted Overlord style shenanigans. A modern military dabbing on the primitive natives that also covers the integration of a fantasy society with a modern society. But it had a lot more focus on harem and politics than I'd like. The politics might have been interesting, but it really felt like just a waste of time with no payoff. "Oh no you can't do that because political reasons!" then a few episodes later "Okay we are bending the rules a bit and you can do it!" No repercussions or anything just a road bump to action. Really felt like the story might have just been a medium for the author to agenda post.

I prefer Natsume Yuujinchou to Mushishi, but that's probably even more yokai slice of life. At least it isn't totally episodic.
