There really isn't shit worth watching this season, after a year straight at least one banger every season. Is the apothecary show any good? I liked Bookworm and it seems to be in a similar vein. @TheDunceonMaster

Apothecary is AOTY 2023 for me, it's the perfect mix of comfy and intrigue and a gremlin protag and not-china pseudo-history and lots of good buildup.

Although I'd say hold off until it finishes and watch both cours at once, or stop at the obvious midseason break until the second cour is finished, you'll want to watch it all in one go.

Also watch Dungeon Meshi, it's excellent.

Banished from the Hero's party is basically giving up on being a cute SoL.

Synduality Noir has gotten really good, I am looking forward to seeing how Kanata ends up handling Ciel's betrayal . I also am looking forward to the game but I wish it was a character based turned based or squad based RPG with a squad of mechs to customize.

Same on the latter. Jigokuraku sounds good from the synopsis, a lot of people who did watch it were saying how good it is, but whenever I think about actually starting it I just... don't. Idk why.

Definitely one to watch after another season comes out. S1 is 12 episodes of worldbuilding and setup, and while it's very very pretty it definitely is only just getting going.

  • Watched Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress which was decent, but they focused on what should've been the B-plot with the politics instead of half-humans fighting armoured zombies which is the draw of the show. Also no exploration of how Ikoma doesn't fully turn which was just handwaved away. It reminds me a lot of Appare Ranman where they had a good premise but didn't make good use of it

  • Started Oshi No Ko. Goddarn it's good. That 1-hour first episode is exactly the sort of thing series like Solo Leveling need. Just hope it doesn't become too commonplace because most series don't

  • Watched Skip to Loafer. It's cute

  • Watched the OVAs for Drifters. Not as good as the OG series, but it's the closest we're getting to Hellsing nowadays

  • Ragna Crimson had a heck of an episode, but budget restraints are really showing and it didn't do justice to the 9-second fight manga
