Weekly Anime Post 139

Found this thread late, but I watch japanimation irregularly so I post in these infrequently

This weekend I went on a bit of a bender:

I watched both Hellsing (2001) and Hellsing Ultimate (2006), both were just stupid fun, the purest form of edgy slop (nonpejorative), and Alucard might be a top 5 anime antihero for me now because he is legitimately just that cool and over-the-top

Additionally, I watched Mezzo Forte. If you know you know, but I had this on my to-watch list forever and forgot that it had some straight-up UNCENSORED hentai scenes

They were legitimately well animated, but of course it had to be weird, literal-r*pe japanese crap

It wasn't literal-literal r*pe (one was a dream, one was a s*x-doll android body double) but still, bizarre, especially when you aren't expecting it

Overall still kinda fun though, the animation/aesthetic were cool and there's hot girls kicking butt, frick it

Last but not least, I watched the OG Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, also known as YKK

It is a 100% feel-good, nothing-happens-and-that's-a-good-thing, pretty 90s slice of life 2 episode OVA

I can tell I am going to be rewatching YKK a hundred times, it seems like it would be a massive vibe to have on in the background

Anyway, I started watching Frieren. It's really good so far, so it appears people were right to praise it.

It doesn't seem to fall into any of the usual tropes and I really appreciate the slower tempo. Not much else to say just yet.

I hate anime so much it's unreal.

Rewatched Highlander: The Search For Vengeance.

Unironicly the only good Highlander sequel. The only thing wrong with it is that Princes of the Universe does not play at any point in the movie.

This season being much leaner means I've just watched a few seasonal episodes and aside from that, all I've done is ploughed through the entire first season of The Irregular at Magic High School which is a completely forgettable mid power fantasy. I might give S2 a chance but I feel like I'll probably end up getting bored and dropping it.

The light novels for COTE are so good, I liked season one but never watched the other seasons

Blue Archive doesn't suck.

My indoctrination of a friend into Gundam has gone well.

Konosuba is a going to be a weak set of LNs but I am excited.

That time I got turned into a slime, but only for five minutes, is hovering in that zone of too many words and exposition

Saw Castlevania S4 and realized I already watched it during E1. It's the cute twink necromancer as the bad guy, so I switched to Castlevania: Nocturne.

I was hoping that when the black girl was speaking her to magic god from Africa and going on about slavery that maaaaybe there would be some mention of the other African tribes rounding up her ancestors and selling them, but no. Nuance is... bad!
