Weekly Anime Post 45

Ok so I actually watched a lot of stuff:

First, I rewatched 'Date a Live' 1-3 and the new season 4. I think I like the first season most, followed by season 3 cause of the origami arc. The rest isnt bad either though. Season 4 wasnt bad, the new artstyle is not as good as the one from the first seasons, but its okay. Doesnt look like shit at least.

I dont know how I feel about the sad backstory stuff they gave kurumi, I liked her as a ruthless psycho. I guess well have to see what they do with her.

The cliffhanger ending sucks, though at least we get a fifth season so thats good.

Next I rewatched 'Golden Time', which I had good memories of, and I wasnt really disappointed, even though the male protagonist was more annoying than I remembered. Idk what japs have with their whiny male lead characters, maybe they just want their fanbase to have someone to self insert into :marseysmug3:

Id still recommend it if you are into romance shit.

After rewatching so much, I tried out some new stuff too:

First, 'Aharen-san wa Hakarenai'. I didnt finish it yet, idk if I will. It seemed like a generic romcom show, but they completely dropped the rom and the com isnt really funny most of the time either. Its not necessarily bad, but as long as you have other stuff you wanna watch, I would watch that tbh.

Then I watched 'Love After World Domination', I think it was pretty good. Another romcom, it had lots of romance (and it didnt take the whole anime for the couple to actually get together, instead they become a couple in the first episode). The two protagonists were cute together, and there werent any annoying side characters either imo. I found it funny enough too, the show will definitly satisfy all your romcom needs. I hope it gets another season, though as far as I understood after 2 minutes of googling there isnt enough source material (yet).

I started watching 'Science fell in Love, so I tried to prove it' afterwards and so far only finished two or three episodes. To me it made the impression that the show will just drag on and on without any kind of progress in the relationship of the two protagonists, especially since it has a second season. Also the pseudointellectual stuff was pretty cringe, though that might be an issue of the subtitles I used.

If anyone watched it, let me know if its worth to watch on.

Last I watched 'Isekai Bishoujo Juniku Oji-san to', which I havent completely finished yet but will. So far it has been entertaining enough. Id probably watch a second season too.

After finishing that, I plan to watch 'Machikado Mazoku', maybe even rewatch the first season before. If you have any other romcom recommendations, drop them in the comments too.

Watching Gundam 8th MS Team and 00 right now.

Have any Gundam fans here played Gihren’s Greed? It sounds like a kickass series.

I'm not into mecha but always wanted to check out Gundam. What's the good entry point?

I’m new to Gundam myself but I’ll try to answer.

There’s two types of Gundam shows. Universal Century is one longrunning setting that began with the very first show. It centers around the One Year War between the Earth Federation and Zeon. Other Gundam shows are AUs that usually don’t connect to anything.

If you don’t care about UC canon, you could try Gundam Wing or 00. I’ve heard both good and bad things about Iron Blood Orphans. Gundam The Origin is a good introduction to the UC. It’s the first series I sat through so I’d say it makes sense to beginners. You could also try 8th MS Team since it doesn’t require a lot of UC knowledge.

If you want to explore more of the UC specifically you could watch the film versions of the original anime, then jump into Zeta Gundam.

Fair warning, there’s a lot of angsty and or r-slurred MCs in Gundam. You have to sit through a lot of wangst to get all the robot battles.

if you want to get straight into the UC series as fast as possible you could start with the gundam 1 year war compilation movies, but if you have no issue with the animation or length you could also watch the entire show since it does have a bit more details. If you really want you could also start with Gundam the origin since it gives a lot of backstory to one of the main characters, but the comp movies/show covers the most important lore so it's optional. There are a lot of shows taking place around the era it's set in like MS-08th team, War in the Pocket, 0083, etc. They're side content so you can watch them whenever you want after the OG series (though I watched 08th team for my first watch so maybe you could get away with it)

Then if you want you can just watch the rest of the UC shows in order, with Zeta Gundam taking place immediately after the OG series. Apparently the comp films for the shows after the OG series are really bad so just stick with the originals. Outside of the UC timeline there's the Gundam AU which has a bunch of shows within their own canon, such as Mobile Fighter G Gundam so you can pick up those whenever you want

Gihren’s Greed

Sadly no, some of the old Gundam games were apparently really good but really rare. All of the new games are shit SD or breakers. Give me a mech piloting game, sim or arcade, or a good strategy game.
