Sorry for being late m(_ _)m
EDIT: There was a recommendation to do a recommended watch each week so that there is something everyone can discuss, and 'Welcome to the NHK' was suggested. So go watch it or be shunned forever.
I didnt watch too much this week, I tried @MatsurisAhoge's suggestion 'Recovery of an MMO junkie' and I liked it, though it was super slow. I also started 'Mysterious Girlfriend X' again, I watched like 3 episodes of it waaaaay back but found it too weird, I think it might have been my first interaction with anime. I liked it so far. I also restarted 'Jujutsu Kaisen' cause I never finished it, and I also like it.

Copying my other Gundam post
My quest to get through Gundam continues.
I finished G Gundam and have concluded it is dope as frick. I mainly stuck around for the over the top silliness, but the generally slow moving plot really popped off and became engaging towards the very end.
I finished Unicorn too but have mixed feelings about it. The production values were solid, and the fight scenes and designs were great. My favorite was the episode where Neo Zeon attacks Earth directly since it reminded me of 8th MS Team. The writing and dialogue throughout the show is pretty rough though. Aside from his obsession with Mineva, Banana-ger can be summed up as a character by that one scene from Kung Pow Enter the Fist. “Killing is bad, and wrong. There should be a stronger word for killing like… badong.” I didn’t get the point of Ensign hitting-the-griddy either. Did everyone just forgive him at the end for all his horrible actions?
Unicorn’s Newtype stuff was trippy af, and I’m not sure how to feel about them overall. I don’t mind the mindscrew stuff since it’s kind of interesting, but it’s annoying when Newtype abilities turn into plot armor as a substitute for actual piloting skill. The fights in 8th MS Team, for example, are much more interesting than the silly Newtype beam spam you see in some series. It’s also hard to take Gundam seriously when they angst poetic about Newtypes being the “future of humanity” since people with psychic powers aren’t real. It doesn’t actually mean anything, unlike stories set around war and politics.
Maybe I need to try a realer real robot series.
I also watched the Narrative and Hathaway movies. I heard people disliked Narrative, but I thought it was a great blend of characterization and action. Meanwhile people liked Hathaway, but I thought it was kind of odd. Maybe it needs the sequels they’re making for the story to really make sense.
Im giving up on Iron Blood Orphans. I tried a few more episodes, but the characters are too annoying.
I’ve also started SEED and Victory. SEED is really good so far. My only complaint is that character faces aren’t drawn well at all. It’s too early for me to have an opinion on Victory. I just want to see what all the fuss is about there.
In other news, I recently learned there was a Zone of Enders anime. I remember liking the games so I should give it a try.

You'll start to notice as SEED goes on that it gleefully rehashes 0079 with only a thin veneer of paint and a lot less of the charm and deep characterization. SEED does deploy it's side characters wrll enough to make the show watchable if a little bland and souless.
