good point. singapore vs israel is an interesting comparison since they're about the same size (and because the overseas chinese are the jews of asia). singapore is ahead in many ways but notoriety isn't one of them.
my conclusion is that asian test prep culture actually works in the sense of moderately enhancing real ability, but it also massively raises test scores so that they're no longer directly comparable. so assuming identical baseline IQ the asian guy will be better at math, but assuming identical test scores the white guy will be.

Thay doesn't really track since IQ and test scores highly correlated, like .9999+ with SAT and ACT scores.
I think it's mostly their strict culture (and government) that dampens down the weirdos, so they get less fun stuff.
