I went to the store today and every single Mexican there had way more dirt on their face than usual. It turns out it's some r-slurred Catholic ritual where they smear burnt leaves on your face.

I thought Mormonism was weird but at least you get extra kitty if you play by 1830s Core Rules.

Idk it's the weirdest thing because they kept telling us it's from the fronds but I never saw anyone return them.

Likely the church wholesaler burns the leftovers and then supplies holy ashes or smth

That's probably it, a centralized grower and burner and then they distribute the ashes

Everything in the church comes from a catalog. It's incredibly sacrilegious imo but what a niche market to be in

Yeah

Mammon won. Back in the olden days monks or nuns would make a lot of church goods like candles, wine, Eucharist. Artisans (themselves believers) would make the rest.

As monasteries and convents collapsed private enterprise bought out the market. I think there is one convent left where they bake Eucharist still.

Megachurches even have tithing ATMs in the lobbies

Oh yeah, that's why in the 700-800s the Vikings targeted monasteries as easy scores, they were absolute centers of industry.

So basically danish pirates gave rise to capitalism?

In some strange, roundabout way yeah.

What really tanked the monastery enrollment was not making it mandatory
