would love to know when this spam account removal plan is going into action because the one ghoul who repeatedly makes impersonation accounts to try to scam when people mentioning any sort of payment is REALLY annoying. that jackass is still up over 12 hours later for his latest attempt.

bubbles has been here for at least like 5 months making alt accounts to harass trans women near-daily. he's not even particularly interesting or noteworthy other than the sheer volume of it but it's wild that bluesky Still has not done much about him. again, would love to know when this will be real

Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):

One of the challenges of Multiple Account / Sitewide Suspension Evasion Detection efforts is that sockpuppeting can be a way to profile moderation responses, and then that profile can be passed on to others to leverage at scale.

And that profiling can't be detected, only made challenging

there has been an entire british terf cluster that migrated to bluesky to the point where an entire blocklist from @hedgehogsafety.bsky.social was created for JUST british terfs. if we're broadly categorizing this as merely "rude content" and "toxic replies" that sure is a real Bruh Moment.

Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):

Their experiment with toxic content detection almost certainly uses Perspective or an analogue expert system model.

The bad news: those models are trained to detect overt, Reddit-esque hostility, & the peculiar British GCism is cultivated to avoid overt, vulgar hostility.

For what it's worth, elsewhere in the thread why explains that they're writing their own code for it because they tried Perspective and it was terrible

Ms. Penny Oaken (@skywitches.net):

Perspective has limitations, & much of its use case could be covered by writing a set of regexes. A market for it exists due to legal technicalities in the US w/r/t employing moderators professionally.
