Do you write dictionary definitions?

When I interned for my Master's.

I have a Ph.D., too. It isn't in "How people try to have arguments over the Internet they have no qualifications for", but I know someone who does. I use her research a lot.

I graduated from University on this topic. You copied a necessarily-simplified dictionary definition. I provided an in-depth description of how that definition, when taken as the prescriptivist limit of the topic, was oversimplifying the subject to the point of being useless to account for, oh, Eminem. Or even a Shakespearean sonnet. You burped "WRONG" and insulted me. Your insults turned out to not actually work in your favour. This is "todayilearned", and you can lead the horse to water, but you can't make the horse think.

This talking point is at best misleading and at worst a Russian propaganda ploy, _ А у вас негров вешают_.

It presumes that the power to alter the terms of an international treaty between the Nation of the United States of America and another nation is something that a single office, official, or even a single branch of government can affect.

They cannot.

Neither the person nor the office of the President of the United States of America can alter the terms of the mutual support treaties between The United States of America, as a Nation, and Israel, as a Nation.

These treaties, per The Supremacy Clause in Article VI of the US Constitution, are law at the same level as the Constitution itself.

The President cannot change the Constitution. The Congress cannot unilaterally change the Constitution. The Supreme Court cannot unilaterally change the Constitution.

For these treaties to change:

The USA would have to break all diplomatic relations with Israel, or Israel would have to repudiate the treaties. Neither is likely to happen, because the only precedented form of the former would involve a declaration of war, and the latter is not foreseeable.

OR

The State Department could negotiate superseding treaties, Congress could ratify those treaties, and POTUS could sign them. Also unlikely to happen - would require Israel to agree to supersede current treaties.

Congress could move to amend the Constitution with a supermajority, and pass that on to the States to ratify the amendment. Also, very, very unlikely to happen.

These are the truth. You could have a communist Palestinian-American POTUS with a popular mandate to halt all arms transfers to Israel immediately, and it wouldn't matter —

Because the government of the United States of America is a government of laws, and the act altering or refusing to enforce or carry out those laws was put out of the reach of any one person or office or branch.

That is the reality.

Unless the GOP are elected, whereupon they will ignore inconvenient laws, and also go above and beyond the current arms shipments which are conditioned per the terms of the treaties on specific incidents occurring.

The "both sides are going to ship arms to Israel, vote for neither" plays into the vote suppression strategy of the GOP, who have always, always in the past 50 years benefitted from low voter turnout.
