My going theory for this is that it's confusing the concepts of freezing point and boiling point. So it "thinks" that the number has to be above the freezing number, like boiling water, rather than below

This explanation gives it too much credit. It can't be confused; it isn't capable of that level of sophistication. It smashed together English language sentences in a way that its n-dimensional pachinko machine matrix allowed, and spat out a grammatically valid but factually wrong sentence
