Indian food smells so bad that places in Canada and Britain have to install exhaust fans that vent outside over the stoves.
I've seen sexy Indian dudes relegated to cooking in the garage in the US. A former employer had a ton of sexy Indian dude employees and lunchtime stunk up the whole floor.

I'm pretty sure range hoods are code in most US states. I've never been in a kitchen without one

All the houses and apartments I've been to never had a hood that vented outside, just through a metal mesh filter and the out into the room.
