I would raise it way higher (to 10k or something) just for the entertainment value. If it’s going to shit up threads, it may as well be funny to watch someone get rekt or awkwardly boast about it for hours.
Also, competitive gambling would be hilarious and create lots of entertainment. Something like WOW’s deathrolling where two people bet double or nothing on a roll 1-100 and 1 to every lower number that comes up until someone hits 1 and busts. The tension is great. Add a default-win timer for 1/2 hour or something in between rolls or maybe not to see people kitty out mid-match.
