Now make it so that clicking context on a comment doesn't make it look like it has an extra level of nesting that it shouldn't have. Reddit just highlights the comment by making the big solid-filled area comment a bit brighter.

Now make it so that clicking context on a comment doesn't make it look like it has an extra level of nesting that it shouldn't have. Reddit just highlights the comment by making the big solid-filled area comment a bit brighter.
The former looks almost like HughJanus is replying to IslamWasRightAboutWomen (when he wasn't), and also looks like X (formerly chiobu) isn't replying to HughJanus (when he was).

Haha. Despite evidence to the contrary, I'm not amazingly familiar with css sorry.
However, the brightening effect does happen briefly when you first visit the comment via context, and then fades back to the background, so maybe you could tweak the code from that...

When you visit a comment through the "Context" link:
...this is how a comment currently looks.
And this is how I think it should look.
