Eerie's been sick for a long time and wasted away down to just 6 lbs after losing 7.5 lbs
After months of treatment and tests, they finally figured out the issue but she needed high risk abdominal surgery.
They weren't sure if she would survive the procedure, but she did.

Thank you, it was a twisted bile duct causing intermittent bile obstruction with cholecystitis and liver failure which was also causing kidney issues. They were able to remove the offending duct and gallbladder so the rest of the issues will most likely start resolving. Her bloodwork was very iffy though and not normally something you'd risk surgery but there wasn't really any other option.

They prognosis was good! It appears everything traces back to the cholecystitis, but they biopsied/took tissue samples of a bunch of other stuff as well to make 100% sure, so still waiting on those, but the mechanical explanation makes the most sense given how she was having the off/on symptoms with throwing up so I'm super hopeful this is curative!! Thanks again so much you're an Eerie lifesaver to me

Oh that's super great news! I hope she recovers well and is fat and happy in no time and you guys have many more years together.
I'm glad I was able to help. I amassed such an enormous amount of cat vet knowledge when my cat was sick and it's nice to be able to use that to help someone else and their kitty.
Does she need a special diet or anything with her gallbladder out? I know humans have to cut fat consumption or something when they get theirs done.

I thought the same but no they said regular diet is fine! I think it might have something to do with cat food not typically being high fat anyway but I'm not sure, in any case it's a relief that I can just throw everything and the kitchen sink at her to spoil her rotten haha

no worries though I've got about 12 different kinds of fancy cat food and cat treats so Eerie gets what Eerie wants. :) Her favorite right now though seems to be fried chicken without the skin so she's been recovering on a diet of popeyes chicken lol
