In many habitats yes. They exist still for the carnivores but many have drop down instead of net based
cages. This design first 
showed up for elephant enclosures as few nets or fences can hold elephants in anyway

They are born at around 200 pounds and then gain 2 to 4 pounds a day. So the small ones are really young

there's no way even the smaller one weighs 200 pounds they are like the size of dogs. look at them! barely even bigger than the tree stump!

The exhibit is enormous, both me and my wife noted how small everything looked given how big the exhibit is. I can ask how big the drop was but id estimate that that's a 15 feet wall

It's all connected. This area is for breeding and caring for the animals, they have about 8 times this in outdoor space when it's warm enough for them. I'll post a map

In addition to the indoor facility there is a large outdoor facility adjacent complete with a watering hole. It's total space is larger than my own cities zoo in size. Omaha's zoo is one of if not the largest in the world

This is their breeding ground made up of uncompactable 4 ft of sand. It enables th to learn how to walk in those conditions.
The ultimate goal is to produce elephants capable of repopulating reserves in Africa.
