I literally don't think they were doing anything with dogs. The post mentions "animals" and the only time they mention a species they mention "rats" which makes sense because lab rats are used for research all the time.
I'm pretty sure they just took a pic of some cute puppies and attached it to the story even though I see no evidence that dogs were involved at all.
