Wife picked up a bouquet of flowers from the farmers market. I sprayed the whole thing down with bitter apple spray so the cats wouldn't eat it.
Turns out this silly b-word likes bitter apple.
We tried cleaning it but not much came off.
Right before bed, decided it'd probably be a good idea to be a little more aggressive with the cleaning, so I started asking Jeeves how to get the pollen off his fur.
Whelp, quickly learned that lily, the flower he got into, is highly toxic to cats. Leaves, pollen, stems, even the water in the vase. It's not the usual "oh it makes them puke so it's technically toxic" but legitimate "get his butt to the hospital now" toxic.
I also learned it's $95 just to get in contact with ASPCA poison control over the phone, but they maintained communication with the vet for managing the treatment.
Packed him up and got him to the hospital, where I had to wait until 1am for updates -- took yesterday off because I'm normally waking at 4am for work.
After $2,000 in vet bills and 48 hours observation, this chatty boy is finally home.
Can't wait to humiliate him again

Did a DNA test on her and she's 60% pomeranian, 10% pit bull, and then the other 30% was labeled "megamutt" lol. She's got German Shepherd, Chow Chow, Chihuahua and Jack Russel Terrier in her.
She's a sweet little thing. Only 15 pounds and dumped at a shelter. The shelter said she was a Corgi mix, and I knew right away she's not Corgi but it saved her from being euthanized.

1. Rat Terrier/Teddy Roosevelt Terrier/American Hairless Terrier
All closely related. These all American terriers are at their cutest when they look like giant chihuahua's. But breeders must be careful to not have them look like pitbulls. The hairless variety has a hairless gene unique from all other hairless breeds that is not associated with skin or dental problems and is recessive meaning that they breed true
2. Schipperke
The smallest shepherd. The most mischievous looking breed. Almost looks like a wild forest creature
3. Sussex Spaniel
It's a dwarf Newfoundland. Very cool
4. Bracco Italiano
Gun dog that looks like a hound dog. Weird but neat
5. Pharaoh Hound
Perhaps a good pitbull replacement? Very badass looking without being a pittie. A Spanish breed which means they're low maintenance because Spaniards are lazy and wouldn't keep high maintenance dogs
6. Smooth Collie
Who knew a collie looked tough under all that fluff? These things are built like tanks with giant chests body builder neck and have the regal snout
7. Pumi
Naturally look like Teddy Bears. Not much else is known

Bruno and Ollie, two German shepherds, both had long journeys as shelter dogs before ultimately getting adopted by their forever parents. Bruno lived at Benton-Franklin Humane Society (BFHS) in Washington state for 280 days, while Ollie lived there for 537.
Bruno was originally adopted from the shelter as a puppy, then surrendered to the same shelter because his dad got too sick to care for him. Ollie, on the other hand, was found tied to the shelter's front door with another dog. The other dog he was abandoned with got adopted right away, but Ollie remained at the shelter for a year and a half.
Ollie and Bruno were placed in the same playgroup at BFHS. After seeing them play together, it quickly became obvious to the shelter staff that the two got along really well β they had a unique bond
"They've been friends for a while, and they've always liked to play together," Julie Saraceno, a volunteer dog walker at the shelter, told the dodo
For many months, Bruno and Ollie were kennel neighbors. Together, they watched as countless people walked right past them and as their other friends in the shelter got to go home with new families.
One day, though, everything changed for Bruno and Ollie. Tana Whelan and her husband, Paul, came in to BFHS fully intending to adopt only one dog. But they ended up loving both Bruno and Ollie. So the couple decided to ask the shelter staff to see Bruno and Ollie play together to see if they could potentially get along.
As soon as they saw Bruno and Ollie together, it was obvious that the two had a special relationship. The couple mulled over their decision β then decided to do something no one expected.

"I was like, 'Great, we'll take both,'" Whelan told The Dodo. "[The shelter workers] were shocked. The gal was like, 'I have chills. I have goosebumps.'"

"I think having the two of them has really helped β¦ because they already know each other. I think them having [someone] familiar has been really helpful," Whelan said.
Whelan emphasized that she hopes Poncho and Pretzel's story will inspire people to give dogs who've been at shelters for a long time a chance.
"I think it's important that people understand what good dogs are at shelters," Whelan said. "[Poncho and Pretzel] are really good boys, and there are so many dogs who have been in shelters longer than they have who are just good dogs, [too]."
