This is the facility that hit net positive fusion energy today

This breakthrough isn't even on /r/science. Reddit should be drooling over this The Science achievement.

man that looks like its going to be really easy to scale and commercialize

It's the size of like 10 Walmarts lol, but ENIAC was r-slurred big too

I just want mass fusion so BIPOC countries like Saudi and Russia can go back to being poverty wastelands as god intended them.

They got "fusion" to work for < a microsecond?

Here's the right video, but it's not as useful:

13 years later and billions (trillions?) invested, and they got some stuff to fuse, which got them a net return on energy for an unspecificied amount of time:

LLNL’s experiment surpassed the fusion threshold by delivering 2.05 megajoules (MJ) of energy to the target, resulting in 3.15 MJ of fusion energy output, demonstrating for the first time a most fundamental science basis for inertial fusion energy (IFE).

Cool, but it sounds like a waste.

That's the new success. Essentially the fusion version of the Trinity test.

"It is possible to do" is the message.

50 more years of engineering to make it useful.

Given how brief it was, maybe it's all just a measurement error.

Your story hit me very hard Gabby. I'm a 28 yo guy who didn't think he can get affected by stories like this but I haven't slept the past 3 nights and can't do anything productive seeing your face crying for help but no one around to save you everywhere I go.
