All chain restaurants used to be good, else they never would have chained out. These places descended into mediocrity 30 years ago but refuse to die. Chili's used to actually cook food but now everything is just microwaved. People are just eating the memory.

It's crazy how much more actual cooking was done. In the 80s KFC used to get entire chickens and they'd split them up at the store.
Olive Garden is the best chain because their menu is optimized to be low work while being the right mix of premade and cooked on site. It's actually a genius system they have imo

Weird. Maybe it's regional? I have literally been in their kitchen this week and watched them make sauces and soups. They had fryers, skillets, griddles, broilers and only 2 microwaves

The Texas Roadhouse near it has very good food

The supply chain for goyslop is vastly different between USA and Canada. Taco bell tanked here because I think they couldnt use TVP in their meat and it fricked up the margins.
So it's super possible everything in Olive Garden USA is microwaved

They vary regionally so much. There was one Outback I had been a couple times that could make a killer NY Strip, and others where it was dog shit.
You can usually get some ribs that are enjoyable enough unless youve been to Missouri, after that you can never eat ribs anywhere else.

My parents used to take us to chilis for a special occasions and it legit felt like the peak of dining. I don't know if my taste got better of chilis got worse but darn those fajitas were a treat.

Cheesecake Factory is actually surprisingly good. I went there for the first time a couple months ago and got the tuscan chicken and was really pleasantly surprised, especially given the size of the menu. The cheesecake is pretty good, too.
Only problem is that it seems to draw black people like moths to a flame. No clue why, but it was amusing seeing four separate groups freak out when they were told it would be a 40 minute wait because they were too r-slurred to make a reservation, while the white groups who had made reservations were seated immediately.
