Because if he did this wouldn't have happened and it wouldn't be news. Obviously.

Has it ever crossed your mind that there could have been private conversations and Strickland just refused to get back in line?

I doubt it.
Also the guys right. Restricting latin mass is fricking r-slurred and not something the pope should be doing.
It's fine to say, priests should say mass in the vernacular, but saying YOU CAN'T DO MASS IN LATIN UNLESS I SAY SO is moronic.
This pope thinks that's NOT OKAY, but if you want to suck peepee and dress like a woman, that's totally cool.
Frick this pope.

Rofl, you think you have any business dictating what the pope should be doing in a religion that revolves around the pope as the temporal and spiritual authority on Earth? You might be missing some important details about Catholicism.
Yeah, no, he never said this but I guess if you just read trad rags then you might get this impression. Trads are just furious that the pope is telling them that "smear the queer" and being a vicious Pharisee might not be in line with Christ's message.
A pope doesn't even change doctrine but dares to treat gay people with kindness, and that's what leads you to rejecting papal authority? I'm so sorry the Pope isn't entertaining your "deus vult" LARP and edgy counter-cultural fantasies. Maybe you should try out fundamentalist Protestantism.

I'm not dictating anything. It's my PERSONAL OPINION that telling bishops they need HIS PERSONAL PERMISSION to conduct latin mass is fricking r-slurred.
The reasoning that he's trying to be "more open" or whatever doesn't even make sense. If he wants people to conduct mass in the vernacular, it's fine to just say that.
There's literally zero reason why you can't just idk... DO BOTH
When you start restricting people from giving mass in latin, that's when you go full fricking r-slur. IN MY PERSONAL OPINION.
give it a year, we'll get there
I don't give a shit if the church accepts gays or not. Most of them already did and do here.
I just think it's dumb to say they have to do that but also say, no you can't give latin mass if you want to.
That's not "opening the church up" it's being a micro managing karen.
People like latin mass. Especially on Christmas.

The real reason for the TLM restrictions is because they've become a hotbed for extremism like integralism. What happened with the SSPX in the later 20th century is instructive as to how TLM communities could play out.
Personally, I'm not actually thrilled about the restrictions because I consider it heavy-handed and there's nothing wrong with the Latin Rite liturgy. When I first learned about them I thought they were unreasonable, but doing a deep dive into the traditionalist sphere changed my attitude somewhat. The strident traditionalists have a vicious, hateful mindset.
Progressive Catholics have been saying this for a decade and yet Pope Francis has only issued non-statements. This is what sets me off about the American trad reaction: these same people wax poetic about submission to Rome during the last papacy but the moment the pope starts saying things they don't like, they are ready to schism. It's so pathetically hypocritical and really shows their true colors.
I'm sorry for taking swipes at you. I'm just not happy about discovering a lot of unsettling stuff about my religion over the past few months as I've done a deep dive.

It's cool. @Bookers is not even on some total chud crusade, @Bookers just like Latin mass and @Bookers is fricking annoyed.
Like, this is how @Bookers feel about it.
As far the other stuff, @Bookers don't even care. If Rome said tomorrow that homosexuals could get married in the church @Bookers wouldn't bat an eye.
@Bookers just think it's dumb that they're like Yeah homosexuals can get married, but don't you dare read the sermon in latin.

Shouldn't that be a concern though?
I personally don't care what gay people do/ have gay friends/ etc.
But there is clear indication that homosexuality is a sin. That said so is lying and a million other things and all sin is equal in the eyes of god and all that.
If Christians pastors/priests/etc. bless a homosexual union it is directly going against the word of god for the sake of inclusion.
Priests shouldn't condone sin much less give it their blessing right? Whether it's lying, murder, blasphemy, homosexuality, adultery, etc. Idk just seems wrong to me.

Idk maybe they should, maybe they shouldn't.
It doesn't effect me so I don't really give a shit.
