Today my priest spoke about how Lent is a time for healing the wounds caused by sin. While Jesus is famous for healing ailments of the body, his true work was healing ailments of the soul. On an unrelated note, I think God's covenant with Noah proves that global warming won't lead to apocalyptic flooding.

Welcome to the first and hopefully last Mass discussion thread that isn't a pinned post! I got the idea to make these into their own hole a few days ago, and I'm still not quite sure how it works. In any case, it's still in the works, if you want one thing to help it along, sub to the hole. Anyway, this week in mass, we heard from the prophet Isaiah, who I always get mixed up with Isiah Thomas, so I spent the whole week thinking of Detroit's most famous albino as some sort of seer. Also, our new priest's old church has an altar dedicated to St. Isiah (I'm not kidding), so I may be getting it confused with him. I always get those two prophets confused anyways, so I'm still in the clear there. Last week's Bible discussion has been postponed until next week so that it might be more thought out. It's been awhile since I've gone to confession, but I've been to Communion a lot this week, so let's discuss that instead! The Eucharist was my introduction to the Catholic faith, and it's by far my favorite part of it. After years of not believing in God, I found myself, this past year, really craving the body of Christ. I still don't fully understand transubstantiation, but I truly feel that, every time I partake, my body is being changed into His, and I feel Him in my heart as I am filled with the body of Him who gave His body for me. I also believe in the Real Presence, even if I don't understand it. I've had some great experiences with it in my life, my favorite was talking to a girl who refused to come to dinner at my house until I told her that I couldn't drink it unless I believed it was real, which I always do. I'd only had one other girlfriend who knew I was Catholic (we joked about a possible marriage), and I was thrilled to have finally found one who was ok with it, because I know my standards make dating a lot harder for me. We dated for about a year before my conversion and relationship with God deepened, and she never wanted to date me again, despite my insistence that I was exactly who I had been with a few different opinions. I found the best website for learning Latin, it's called ecclesia.net. It's a bit slow to load on mobile, so I've been using it on my computer. I'm going to start with their second course, Latin for Everyone A, which is designed for total beginners. I like how the format is taught; it's like Duolingo. Also it's free, which is a bonus.
