Both CNN and NYT are major media outlets that reach tens if not hundreds (forgot millions whoops lol ) of Americans and even more around the world. Infowars is a semi-obscure conspiracytard website that you either have to go out of your way to find or be linked to by schizo friend or family member. I think everyone would agree that had NYT had gone out and said the massacre was fakes just days after and had never recanted, peoples views on Sandy Hook would be extremely more warped than exponentially more than Jones could have hoped for.

Also Jones inherently dramatic and while the fine is also dramatic, it does prevent future happenings from actually happening so it is partially dramaphobic so a true dramatard would be saddened by an end of era
